New method for calculating companies’ demand for skills

med No Comments

Most companies use electronic job postings as a channel for recruiting new employees. Thus, many thousands of new job postings come in each month, containing valuable knowledge of the actual demand of companies – a knowledge that traditional analyses of the need for labour do not utilise.

Using advanced algorithms, we have developed a method that can extract data from all electronic job postings in Denmark. Among other things, this makes it possible to shed light on companies’ demand for different types of skills.

Most recently, the method has been used in an analysis for the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, where we have calculated the demand for technical and digital skills in the Danish labour market. There is a brief introduction to the method here.
